Fitness Myth No. 5: Yoga can help with back pain.

The truth is that yoga can help with back pain, but it’s not equally good for all types. If your back pain is muscle-related, then yes, the yoga stretches and some of the positions can help. It can also help build a stronger core, which for many people is the answer to lower back pain. But, if your back problems are related other problems (such as a ruptured disc) yoga is not likely to help. What’s more, it could actually irritate the injury and cause you more pain. If you do have back pain, get your doctor’s OK before starting any type of exercise program, and we would also recommend seeing a highly accredited Doctor of Chiropractic. If you feel your core is weak, I would highly recommend our wood-chop, torso-twist and reverse wood-chop series of fit body band exercises. I have combined many core exercises into all of our band workouts and they are for all ages and fitness levels.

3 Easy Tips to Start Losing Weight Today


After working with thousands of clients, I realize one of the most common struggles people have with healthy nutrition and weight loss is eating more frequently throughout the day.  Skipping breakfast or only eating 1-2 times per day can lead to fatigue, sugar or salt cravings, and over-eating (especially at night).  Set yourself up for success by following my top 3 tips for healthy weight loss.

Recipe of the Week




Raw Brownies


Craving something sweet and healthy? My delicious raw brownies are gluten-free and contain only a few whole food ingredients!



  •    1 scoop Fit Shake
  •    1 ½ cups walnuts
  •    16 Medjool dates, pitted
  •    1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  •    1 tsp vanilla extract



1.Place walnuts and salt in a food processor. Process until finely ground.

2.Add remaining ingredients and process until thoroughly mixed and uniformly       crumbly.

3.With the machine running, add a few drops of water at a time, just until the mass starts to stick together in a big ball.

4.Roll mixture into balls or press into a square pan and cut into squares.

5.Balls/ bars can then be rolled in dried coconut, chopped nuts, or cocoa powder if you wish.
